I decided to pursue photojournalism shortly after I made this image. It was the 2016 presidential election night. I was at Blackfinn Ameripub, a crowded restaurant full of election spectators, across the street from the White House. A restaurant employee, amid his hustle, peeked out of the kitchen window to see the projections on TV. This moment always sticks with me as a photojournalist, in search for hopes and truth and represents an eagerness for civil participation and service.
