I decided to pursue photojournalism shortly after I made this image. It was the 2016 presidential election night. I was at Blackfinn Ameripub, a crowded restaurant full of election spectators, across the street from the White House. An employee, amid his hustle, peeked out of the kitchen window to see the projections on TV. This moment always sticks with me as a photojournalist, in search for hopes and truth and represents an eagerness for civil participation and service.
